The Outskirts of Banff
A new house stands above the field between Duff House Woods and the A97 south-west of Banff. I wonder how long it will be before the field too becomes a building site?

Snowdrop Festival
The Snowdrop Festival ran officially from 1st February and ended on 15th March, but no-one has told the snowdrops, which are still in full bloom in the woods near Duff House.
(As well as listing places where displays of snowdrops can be enjoyed, the festival seems to have served as a peg on which to hang a variety of events whose connections with snowdrops seem, to put it mildly, rather tenuous. Duff House's offering was an exhibition titled 'What's the War got to do with us?' and other events included a Scottish Opera tour and a Valentine's Day dip at Peterhead Lido!)

Remains of a Beech
This large beech tree must have fallen across the track, and had had to be cut to reopen the way.

Ice House
This was the 'refrigerator' for nearby Duff House. Food was stored here in ice, and the construction was such that ice would remain frozen for two or even three years. Its small external size is deceptive; this entrance is about three-quarters of the way up the side, and most of the structure is underground.

Duff House - Ice House
"Icehouse, built in circa 1800. It is a rubble domestic icehouse, built against the slope with a later, now roofless, square ante-chamber. There is a conical rubble interior to the icehouse, below a turfed and domed roof pierced by a chute".
It is located beside a woodland path, ca 1 kilometre southwest of Duff House.
