1 St Catherine's Street
This wouldn't be out of place in Aberdeen, though the grey granite is unusual in Banff. It dates from 1830 and is in the style of Archibald Simpson (1790-1847) of Aberdeen. There is an interesting contrast between the plain building and the Doric portico.

41 - 43 Castle Street
The double house dates from about 1850. No 41, on the left, has its original window, but the symmetry of the building has been destroyed by the later insertion of a shop front in No 43.

Winston House, 39 Castle Street
The central gable is inscribed '1897', but there seems to be some question of the house being of earlier date, and the rather overblown gables having been added later. The building is now office accommodation for Aberdeenshire Council.

Seafield House, 37 Castle Street
One of many buildings in Banff designed by Thomas Mackenzie (1814-1854), this is now the office of the Registrar. It is in italianate style with a Doric portico.
