Dirtin Lane
I was told by a lady who had lived in Macduff for over half a century that this tiny lane was known as Dirtin Lane because there was a dairy at the foot of it and it was always clarted with cows' muck. These days it descends by a set of steps to Crook o' Ness Street.

Top of Nicol's Brae
Nicol's Brae curves down from here to Shore Street, the dyke on its left as you look down. School Lane continues to the left. The Doune Kirk is on the skyline.

Macduff Shipyards, north Aberdeenshire coast
Vessels are dragged up a slipway from Macduff Harbour to allow them to be worked on. The drastic reduction of the Scottish fishing fleet means that work for shipyards like this is limited and many have gone out of business.
