From here the steepness of most of Macduff's streets can be appreciated. The spire is a former kirk now in use as Macduff Arts Centre.

Institution Street
Looking up from the harbour. I think the crowstepped and turreted building must be a private house. The red triangle outside the council offices one block up the street probably contains a leading light to guide vessels safely into the harbour at night. These are normally in pairs, sited so that when one is seen directly above the other, the vessel is on the correct course, but in this case I could not see a second one.

Blue Shutter
The shutter matches the door, and it looks as if neither has been much used recently. The broken rhone has been colonised by a stonecrop, probably Biting Stonecrop.

School Lane climbs in both direction from its intersection with Duff Street. This is looking up the eastern part of it from near the corner of Duff Street.

Macduff: marine aquarium
Macduff marine aquarium lies right on the shoreline. The austere concrete seawall built to protect the aquarium from the sea has been transformed by bright caricatures of the wonderful animals to be found within.
