Bingo!
Bingo hall on Mid Street. The 1925 OS 25-inch map shows the building to be a cinema. In the right background is the almost new Fraserburgh United Reformed church, erected after the previous church was destroyed in an arson attack in 2000.

Main road through town
The A90 is quiet on a Sunday afternoon. This important trunk road, which runs from Edinburgh to Fraserburgh (see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A90_road ), ends at the junction with the A98 in the distance.

Mercat cross, Fraserburgh
This fine A-listed (LB31867: http://portal.historicenvironment.scot/designation/LB31867 ) mercat cross (with modern replica head) has a date of 1736 on the shaft. At the top are the earlier royal arms of James VI (James I of England) and Charles I as used in Scotland (until 1649). Below are what seem to be hybrid arms of Fraser of Philorth and the Burgh of Fraserburgh. According to Burke's General Armory, the Fraser arms should be quarterly 1st and 4th azure three fraises argent; 2nd and 3rd argent a lion rampant gules. The burgh arms should be (according to Urquhart: Scottish Burgh and County Heraldry) quarterly 1st and 4th purpure three fraises argent; 2nd and 3rd gules a lion rampant argent. So, the tinctures (colours) are not consistently correct for either arms.

Temperance fountain, Fraserburgh
The inscription reads 'Temperance Jubilee Fountain 1889'. Temperance fountains (see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Temperance_fountain ) were erected to encourage the 'lower classes' to cut back on their beer consumption. At some point, this example has been thoughtfully filled with concrete. Behind is the Saltoun mausoleum with very eroded arms of Lord Saltoun just visible.
