From the bridge over the North Ugie. On Mormond Hill at the top of the street and in another square can be seen Scotland's only white horse dating from around 1800 and not chalk but quartz.

High Street
The view up the High Street of the planned town of Strichen leads the eye to the Gothic style Parish Kirk, originally the Free Kirk, and built in 1893-1894 to a design by Duncan McMillan (1840-1928). The white car has just turned right out of the lane on the left.

Bridge Street
As the signposts show, the main road goes left, leaving the town centre even quieter than it might otherwise be. The steeple belongs to the Town House. Mormond Hill, with a white horse carved into the quartz rock, is on the skyline. Not much has changed since Image] was taken in 2006.
