Former manse, Kirkton of Logie Buchan
It sometimes seems that the sizes of Church of Scotland manses were inversely proportional to the population of the parish they served (or was such a dwelling needed to tempt a minister and his family to a bleak and desolate outpost?). The former manse (built 1775) is extravagantly large for a kirkton settlement and dwarfs the adjacent kirk itself: http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/5094314 .

The bell is dated 1728 and must come from an older church or chapel.

Kirktoun
Kirkton of Logie Buchan, as its name suggests, is a fine example of a 'kirktoun' (or kirkton): a tiny Scottish rural settlement consisting of the kirk, the manse and a couple of cottages. Even in 2016 it looks primitive. In the distance is the Auchmacoy memorial bridge over the River Ythan: http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/5094380 .

St Andrew's Kirk, Kirkton of Logie Buchan
Built ca. 1787 in typical harled 'preaching box' (rectangular) style. The mock gothic windows were installed much later. B-listed: http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/sc-9084-parish-church-of-logie-buchan-st-andrew-#.V8SQHSZTGmQ .

Logie Buchan Parish Kirk
Logie Buchan is one of those parishes which don't have a village. The kirkton here consists of just a handful of houses, the manse and the kirk, which dates from 1787.
