Foveran parish kirk
Built 1794 in typical rectangular style with 'birdcage' bellcote to replace a medieval predecessor, which has disappeared completely. The apse-like organ chamber (which sits behind the pulpit) protruding from the south wall, was added in 1900. The kirk, which contains the A-listed Turing monument, is now apparently out of use and a very faded notice at the kirkyard entrance directs potential worshippers to Newburgh, about 1.5 km to the north-east. B-listed (LB9165): http://portal.historicenvironment.scot/designation/LB9165 . For a minutely detailed history of the parish and its leading families, see: Aberdeenshire Epitaphs and Inscriptions by J. A. Henderson, p. 309 (available as a download from archive.org ).
