Market Buildings, Stonehaven
Although Stonehaven contains a number of venerable and historically important buildings, the market buildings with their distinctive steeple - dating from 1856 - perhaps best define this Kincardineshire town.

Market square fountain, Stonehaven
Presented to the inhabitants of Stonehaven by George Barrie in 1887 and B-listed: http://portal.historicenvironment.scot/designation/LB41641 . It is made of Aberdeen granite rather than the local sandstone. The fountain was to improve public health and encourage temperance. The horse trough was added later. The water dried up long ago and both are now used as flower planters.
