70-72 High Street
This two-and-a-half storey double house is one of those described in 'The Buildings of Scotland' for its interesting architectural details. It is Category C Listed. It's an unusual pleasure to find it at last without parked cars and vans obscuring the view.

High Street
This is a typical high street of a planned town, with a wide straight street, and the houses (mostly) aligned with their long elevation to the street. The width of the street allows plenty of space for parking, an amenity obviously not in the minds of those who planned the layout for Charles Grant of Wester Elchies in 1812.

Alleyway in Aberlour
When Charlestown of Aberlour was founded, it is said, the residents used stones from the bed of the River Spey to build their houses. This alley seems to bear this out, being built of irregularly shaped rounded stones of a variety of rock types and colours.

The Square, Aberlour
Charlestown of Aberlour, to give the village its full name was founded by Charles Grant of Wester Elchies in 1812 with the square at its centre. Prominent in the square is the parish war memorial in the form of a mercat-cross with the battlemented clock tower of the parish church dating from 1861 beyond. The River Spey with the Speyside Way on its bank is only 100 yards beyond the church.
