The Old Deeside Line car park at Ballater
The route of the rail track runs past the car park, but the railway was never laid further than Ballater, under the orders of Queen Victoria, as she wanted to preserve her privacy at Balmoral Castle a few miles to the west

Victoria Barracks, Ballater
The barracks are largely unoccupied except when the Windsors are on their annual visit. They were put to better use in 2015 as accommodation for people made temporarily homeless by Storm Frank.
