Kirklands
This was originally the Manse of Coldstone, and is now also known as Coldstone House. It dates from 1783. I am slightly at a loss to account for a fine late 18th century manse of generous proportions being built next to a kirkyard whose kirk had been abandoned in the previous century.

Coldstone Kirkyard
The kirk of Coldstone, which was dedicated to St Neachtan, stood a north of the graveyard (to the right in this view). Coldstone was amalgamated with Logie in the 17th century and nothing of it survives, but the graveyard continued in regular use.

Inscription to Colonel Sir John Farquharson KCB
This is the inscription on Image Colonel Sir John Farquharson KCB was born John Cosmo MacPherson in Tomintoul on 18 March 1839, son of Charles MacPherson, minister of Tomintoul, and Mary Farquharson. He took the name Farquharson in 1888 after inheriting Corrachree (also known as Logie-Mar) from his mother's brother John in 1871. He attended Marischal College in Aberdeen and the Royal Military College, Woolwich before being commissioned in the Royal Engineers. He joined the Ordnance Survey in 1872, and rose through the survey to be appointed Director-General in 1894, in which capacity he served until his retirement in 1899.
