Hillside
Hillside used to be a more or less single-street village along the A92. Road redevelopment and the expansion of Portlethen have left this part accessible by car only by a sharp turn off the busy A90 dual carriageway on the east, or on foot from a new road to the west.

Island residential street adjacent to dual carriageway
This odd street has no access other than directly to the dual carriageway. Thus the sound levels are quite high here, as front yards face the A90.
