Railway Bridge
A Scotrail train is about to cross the railway bridge at North Altens. On this side there are various diggers working in a cordoned-off area, but I don't know what they are doing.

Hawser Tensioner
It says on this device that it is for tensioning wire ropes, and it is indeed doing just that. The thing that puzzled me was that the other end of it is round a post about 25 metres away, still at the head of Long Slough, so I can't think why there is a need to tension a hawser just here. It may be to do with the cycle path, which has a gap in it here, but I am still at a loss to know why.
