Balmoral Subsea Test Centre
I gather that the building contains pressurised tanks up to 15 metres deep for testing deep sea equipment at pressures up to 700 bar, or 691 atmospheres. The tanks were excavated deep down into the granite bedrock. See https://www.balmoraloffshore.com/discover/balmoral-subsea-test-centre for more fascinating facts.

Lochside Academy
As I approached this building I speculated about what it is. It turns out not to be an office block, but Lochside Academy (the loch being the Loch of Loirston, which cannot be seen from here) which was opened in 2018, which accounts for it still looking crisp, smart and tidy. It serves the population of the rapidly growing suburbs of Altens, Cove Bay and Charlestown, and of the older areas of Kincorth, Torry and Nigg.

View from the Lane
Until this point, the view from the lane is of fields on one side and whins on the other, but as you draw level with the whins the Balmoral Subsea Test Centre comes into view and dominates the scene. I am no expert but I think the yellow objects are floats which are used at depth to hold up off the sea floor the cables used for tethering oil rigs. If I am wrong, I hope someone will tell me!
