Erewash Canal looking south from Sandiacre bridge

The towpath is part of a cycle route known as the Nutbrook Trail. The canal was built in 1777-1779 for carrying coal from mines near the Erewash Valley to Leicestershire. The canal now takes pleasure crafts.
