Looking toward Manchester Victoria station, the former Newtown carriage sidings are the waste ground in the foreground. Victoria's roof is just visible: Manchester was still a 'low-rise city' in 1989. In 2008 the view would be dominated by the MEN Arena and 'urban living' apartment blocks.
