This short row of houses is the old Master's House - related to a nearby charity school. It is remarkable as being the place where Hannah More (1745-1833) was born; the stone plaque records the date as February 2nd, 1745. In the middle is a modern blue plaque which notes that More was a Christian educationalist, writer and anti-slavery campaigner. She was an important force for many causes and a blue stocking character, although also had some traditional views in women's roles.
