One of the two chief inns of Horsham from the 17th century the Anchor, in Market Square, was rebuilt in 1899 but ceased to be a hotel around 1920. It even hosted the borough court in 1723. For a fuller history see the British History Online website http://www.british-history.ac.uk/report.aspx?compid=18350#s6. I believe the current name for this pub may be Bar Vin.
