Thurso’s war memorial is in the form of a sandstone memorial with a full size statue on top. The names of those who died from both world wars are engraved on metal panels. Located at the south-eastern end of Sir John’s Square, it was designed by Percy Portsmouth and completed in 1922. The bronze statue depicts Victory, resting his hand on the head of a small boy, representing Peace. The memorial is a Category C listed building (Historic Environment Scotland LB42031 http://portal.historicenvironment.scot/designation/LB42031 )
