6-storey spinning mill, probably dating from around 1905, built as an extension to the original Bolton Textile Mill which has now been demolished. This rope pulley just inside one of the entrances is a reminder of the mill's former power system using cotton ropes driven by a large mill engine that has long since been scrapped. Although the pulley survives, at least one of the top brass bearing halves can be seen to have been removed for weighing in. Some kind person invited us in on a Sunday to show us the former engine house that is now a loading bay with a lift in the former rope race.
