This is the public footpath leading from near Gilling West to the north side of Richmond, passing through the Aske Hall estate. From left to right runs a bridleway (bypassing Aske Hall's Riding School by half a kilometre) crossing the footpath pretty much at right angles. Parts of the Hall can be seen through the gate, surrounded by neatly clipped grass - at least four ride-on mowers were being operated as I walked through despite the grass already being much shorter than I'd ever want my lawn...
