For a Grade I listed building, this is in a dire state. The listing (entry 1135510) describes it as "a very complete survival of a C15 gentry house, the spere-truss and cusped windbracing being the only examples yet identified in Yorkshire". The earliest part of the building, the timber frame, dates from c.1478-1492, altered c.1700, encased in the 18th century and later alterations.
