The text is as follows: "This memorial was erected by the people of Westhall to the memory of members of a crew of a battle damaged B17 "Flying Fortress" which was returning from a mission to Rheine, Germany and crashed at White House Farm, Westhall, whilst attempting an emergency landing at Halesworth Airfield on Saturday 24th March, 1945, 12 noon. Seven crewmen perished. The aircraft, "I'll Be Seeing You" was from the 612th Bomb Squadron of the 401st Bomb Group, United States Eighth Army Airforce, based at Deenethorpe, Northamptonshire.
