Looking towards Newcastle city centre from the Brunton Lane level crossing between the two halves of Kingston Park station. As is usual Metro practice at stations with level crossings, the platforms are staggered so that trains stop at the station immediately before the level crossing, ensuring a slow crossing speed. Therefore, the platform visible beyond the level crossing is used by trains towards Newcastle Airport, while the platform for trains to Newcastle city centre and beyond is behind the photographer.
