Looking across the patch of grass enclosed by the loop of Bristol Road in north west Hull. Skips and heaps of discarded household goods are still in evidence and some homeowners are living in caravans although the floodwater has long since drained away. Aerial photographs of the distinctive road layout in the Bristol Road area were routinely used by the media to show the severity of flooding in Hull during the early summer, with the tops of houses appearing to rise out of a vast lake.
