This is the entrance to Highgate Golf Club. The Club was founded in 1904, the course being laid out on farmland leased from the Church Commissioners. The freehold was finally purchased in 1959. During their history the clubhouse has twice been destroyed by fire. To paraphrase Lady Bracknell to lose one clubhouse is unfortunate, to lose two seems like carelessness! The current course is 18 holes 5985 yards par 69.
