Northampton: The Royal Theatre

This is the original, Guildhall Road, entrance to the theatre, once the Royal Theatre and Opera House, in what is now called the Cultural Quarter of Northampton. It was designed by the Victorian theatre architect Charles J Phipps and opened in 1884. It is Grade II Listed but mainly by virtue of its interior. It now forms part of the much more modern Royal & Derngate theatre complex.
