It was renamed the "Oak of Whitwick" in 1998 having previously been known as the "Beavers' Lodge" or the "Pink Palace" since 1983. This pub was built to replace the original "Prince of Wales". Closed pubs and pubs with changed names are legion in this former coal mining town.
