One of the spin-offs (no pun intended) of the windpower industry is the requirement for huge substations (sized at about 40 acres) in this case mainly to process the output from the ever spiralling numbers of wind turbines off the coast near Skegness. Rural communities are increasingly under threat, and the government usually seems to disregard their wishes.
