The Westbourne Street Board School opened 1885 in three departments for boys, girls and infants. In 1898 a junior block was added, the southernmost. Designed by William Botterill and John Bilson. The oldest Board School still in use as a school. Today, Newington Academy (formerly Newington Primary School), Dairycoates Avenue, formerly Westbourne Street.
