The new lifeboat station at Hemsby was opened in 2013. Because of the considerable coastal erosion caused by the storm surge on 5 December 2013, the lifeboat is presently unable to launch because rough seas have cut a 3 metre (10 ft) drop into the beach where it is based. The boat is launched from a tractor-driven trailer which cannot negotiate this drop which also causes serious problems for other machinery > http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/3772580.
