Officially opened in May 2013, Carn Hill wind farm is on the south western side of Carn Hill, off the Slievetrue Road, to the west of Woodburn forest. There are six turbines, at a height of around 700/800ft, capable of generating 13.8 megawatts of power. Owned by Gaeleletric http://www.gaelectric.ie/index.php/onshore-wind-ireland/onshore-map-ireland/carn-hill/ where the website records “The constructed wind farm consists of 6 wind turbines, a permanent anemometry mast, a substation building and compound, a temporary construction area, site tracks and associated cabling”. For the record the summit of Carn Hill is in J3489. This photograph appears as a matter of neutral geographical and historical record only. I have no connection with the owners or objectors. This view, across Belfast Lough, is from Kinnegar, Holywood.
