Autumn came very late this year so many of the trees in this park still had most of their leaves and only a few were showing autumnal colours. Some maps show a bandstand at this end of the park but it seems to have disappeared. Part of this park is an independent charity and registered as a King George Field, which forms part of the National Memorial to King George V, who died in January 1936, and this land has to be preserved for public recreation.
