The artist for this Ceramic mosaic on a solid core was Californian Colin Lambert. It was erected in 1993 to symbolise the optimism and aspirations of the first people to settle in the New Town after the Second World War. During the 2000's it was adopted as the unofficial war memorial for the town and the poppy , crosses and plaque are later additions.
