The Rotunda was built to the design of William Smith, the 'Father of English Geology', to house his fossil collection. It was opened in August 1829. It is a delightful place to visit, containing exhibits on local geology and archaeology, as well as an eclectic mix of artefacts that includes old scientific instruments.
