From a stile at a junction of walls on the border of the National Park, following a footpath which will cross the A591 Kendal bypass, hidden in the dip ahead. Beyond is Cunswick Fell; the Lakeland Fells are in the distance. It's 4pm and we're walking to Staveley. Did we get benighted? Sure did; but made it by torchlight.
