Every time I drive along this road and see the inset plaque in the wall of the house facing me I wonder at its significance. Research shows that the plaque is a remnant of a public house called the Three Legged Cross. The building dates from the 18th and early 19th C and is Grade II listed with English Heritage Building ID: 138335.
