Opened in 1896 by the Preston & Wyre Joint Railway when the line through the town was moved to a new alignment. The line split just beyond the station. View west towards Blackpool (North) and Fleetwood, with some rebuilding evident, some 6 years before the line was electrified. See Image for a view from the same position some 8 years later.
