Although technically a casualty of the cuts of 2007-8 which saw 2,500 brances axed nationwide, service was maintained in Burton Fleming by way of the postmaster from Marton Road Post Office, Bridlington, visiting for a couple of hours each weekday. No doubt because this outreach service is fairly substantial, the original premises have remained in use. Often, for villages receiving the visiting clerk for far fewer hours, a space is provided in a pub or village hall.
