The lock is the lowest of three in the flight. The three locks raise the water by 32ft 7in (9·9 metres), so the depth of this lock is nearly eleven feet (3·3 metres). The ratchet and iron rod from the gear wheels to the paddles (below the water) can be seen clearly.
