View SW, towards Chester: ex-LNW & GW Joint Chester - Warrington (-Manchester) main line. Headed by Stanier 5MT 4-6-0 No. 45132 (built 1935, withdrawn 3/67), the 16.20 from Holyhead via Chester will run to Warrington Bank Quay, then turn off at Winwick Junction to join the original Liverpool & Manchester Railway at Earlestown Junction and proceed to Manchester Exchange (due 20.47). Note Helsby Hill (462 ft.), with its steep north slope in the distance. (See also Image]).
