The home of a painter who may not be a household name, yet almost everyone has seen his painting 'The Murder of David Rizzio' at some time in their life. His 'The Battle of Prestonpans', depicting the death of Colonel Gardiner, is one of the enduring images of the '45 Jacobite Rebellion. Sadly, he did not complete his epic 'The Battle of Bannockburn' on which he was working before his death. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Allan_(painter)
