This is the view of the new Lidl store being built on the northern edge of Dorchester. The major road in the picture is the Yeovil Road which is called the Grove where the trees are on the right of the picture. The road going off on the left is the C12 to Sherborne. The new Lidl store occupies the site previously occupied by Loders Toyota car dealership and another car dealership can be seen on the left. This site is located between the River Frome (southern branch) and the old town. Over the years because of the geography of the area virtually no development has taken place on the north side of the town and the next substantial building moving from Lidl towards the town centre is the old Roman Town House, the most complete one in Britain. It is beyond the trees in the centre of the image.
