The Comrades United Services Club was based here from 1965 to May 2006, when it closed because of falling membership. The premises were then used from 2008 by HQ Sports Bar, and its Influence nightclub. A sign outside proclaims that it has live sport, snooker, American pool, and big screen TV's. The yellow and black banner outside says "Shark Bar Coming Soon". However what came instead, late in 2010, was new management and a new bar called Bar 27. It too has an associated nightclub, called Boogie Nights.
