Built in the 1830s, originally Annan United Secession Church http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Secession_Church . It is a listed building, category B. The church has been vacant for many years, as several schemes to convert it have fallen through. It is on the Buildings at Risk Register for Scotland, whose website gives a description and history of the church http://www.buildingsatrisk.org.uk/BAR/detail.aspx?sctID=1941®ion=Dumfries%20and%20Galloway&div=&class=ALL&category=AT%20RISK&Page=1&NumImg=5 . To the left, steps from the gate lead to Annan Rugby Football Clubhouse - which explains the balloons.
