Partially hidden by trees, St Gwyddelan church was built by Meredydd ab Ieuan ap Robert in the fifteenth century, and replaced the church which was located nearer Dolwyddelan Castle at Bryn y Bedd. Building is believed to have finished in 1512. The church bell (Cloch Wyddelan) is believed to date from the seventh century, having been brought over from Ireland by St. Gwyddelan.
