Most of Barrs Brae was closed to traffic in the early 1970s when the roads around Balfour Street, Highholm Avenue and Springhill were improved to provide an alternate route to the upper part of the town. This steep section runs from Kinross Road (on the left) and continues to Dubbs Road.
