To complement the photo of Merryton railway station already on this site and taken about a month after its opening just before Christmas 2005, here, in August of that year, the new station — there was never one on or near this site during the Larkhall line's previous incarnation from 1905 to 1965 — is under construction. It is taken through the fence in Summerlee Road and the footbridge is also new, saving potential rail travellers living east of the line a long walk round via the Hamilton Road bridge almost half a mile away.
