Part of the famous Double Two shirt factory, although this building is no longer in use by the company. See Image The site, known as Portobello Mills, was built in 1861 for Joseph Wade, a cloth manufacturer. The Wakefield Shirt Co. acquired the mill in the 1950s, and Sugdens, who were then manufacturing jeans and workwear on the site, was taken over but retained as a subsidiary. (Hence the name William Sugden and Sons appearing on the name board).
